Great Escape Gaming

I removed my review at first and after hearing that an employee told the players about a bad review I left . because a player harassed my son for his speed and playing ability. My son who does have emotional and learning disabilities walked out and started walking home. After speaking with the owner that had textbook narcissistic behavior. Shown zero sympathy and it really seemed he knew about everything and was just trying to play dumb about it. My son left after 15 minutes in the game after harassment from the other players and it has happened before in the past at this location. I removed my review and figured I would speak with the owner and he seemed only interested in nothing bad being said about his shop. He said he needed the names from me when he said he had cameras and all players are on the roster so he was just hoping this would go away. We won't be back. I won't ever recommend this place to anyone. Never leave your kids here. It's in a bad neighborhood anyways if they start walking with a bag of expensive cards. which is where I was concerned my son was walking home when I was 15 minutes away. I don't want anyone else to have the same problem he could have

I love it here! The staff are always kind and helpful. They have a vast variety of games, cards, accessories etc. I love that there is access to play the board games, and the huge selection! It's such a great, wholesome concept.

This is an alright shop overall, really good selection of cards, accessories and board games, with generally decent prices. Here's the negatives though; Cash/trade selling rates are really REALLY bad. $70 for a $250 card is not a good offer, what is that, 20% cash? Genuinely the worst rate I've seen. I had previously sold cards to them before I figured out pricing, and I'm glad I started doing my own research because wow that is abysmal. Buying singles for card games you'll end up overpaying a lot on lower value cards but it is convenient to be able to send a list and show up a few days later and get what you want, as opposed to ordering online. Finally and most concerning of any issue I have is a specific incident a few years back when MTG Jumpstart 2022 came out I had purchased a pack from the store which I opened a few weeks later only to find out it was very obviously and poorly resealed. This is a HUGE issue as anyone who opens packs would be aware but I have purchased packs from this place on many other occasions before and after and had no issues, even opening top chase cards. I am assuming and hoping my experience was an accident and not something the store was aware of, pe

If cardboard had a kingdom, Great Escape Gaming would be the throne room. Whether you’re slinging spells in Magic: The Gathering, hunting shinies in Pokémon, or marching gloriously painted armies into battle for Warhammer, this place is the ultimate critical hit. The selection? Legendary-tier. The staff? Basically walking strategy guides with better customer service than your favorite RPG innkeeper. Every time I walk in, I tell myself I’m “just browsing.” Every time I leave, my deck is stronger, my army is bigger, and my wallet has bravely sacrificed itself for the cause. No regrets. The atmosphere is welcoming, competitive in the best way, and full of people who genuinely love the hobby. Whether you’re a seasoned planeswalker, a Pokémon Master in training, or a Warhammer general plotting world domination, you’ll feel right at home. Support your local game store. Buy the pack. Roll the dice. Paint the minis. Repeat. Great Escape Gaming isn’t just a shop — it’s where legends are built.

This store is the bee's knees. I've been here several times and the selection of Pokemon, Magic the Gathering and board games is stellar. Snack selection is on point. The newly renovated gaming area is always busy with whatever daily events are running, and there are always Warhammer players doing Warhammer things. The owner is also a real gentleman. Store temperature is on point, even in the cold Michigan winter, he keeps it nice and Toasty.
